Cadmium Yellow replaced toxic chrome lead yellows. Although more expensive than Chrome Yellow, Cadmium Yellow was used by landscape painters, including Claude Monet, because of its higher chroma and its greater purity of color. Painters today can choose from among the cadmium yellows of the impressionists as well as the modern and more transparent hansa yellows. Hansa yellows retain their intensity in tints and make beautiful glazes.
Hansa Yellows can boost cadmiums in mixes; enabling brighter secondaries. Indian Yellow has been prized for hundreds of years and is ideally suited for glazing.
In its transparency, it makes a glowing warm yellow—as if a painting were suddenly lit with summer sunshine. Occasionally painters found some Gamboge, a strongly colored secretion from trees that resembles amber. Gamboge was used for glazing before Indian Yellow became available in the middle of the 19th century. To make Indian Yellow, cows were force fed mango leaves and given no water. But Indian Yellow was lost somewhere between the decline of cruelty to animals and the rise of manufactured pigments.
A color with obscure origins, Naples Yellow was originally lead antimoniate. Assyrian artists used this pigment to make ceramic glaze. Rubens used this color extensively for skin tones. Because the original pigment is lead based, Robert Gamblin formulated an excellent copy at a reasonable price. Hansa yellow pigments were first made in Germany just before World War I.

Gaming In Color is a full length feature documentary on one of the fastest growing communities in the fastest growing entertainment sector in the world: For too long gamers have been painted in a very specific light, and the mosaic of gamers have lacked the diversity of minorities, queers, women, and members of LGBT communities. We want to create this film in order to take a closer look at the challenges and the growth of these communities in the gaming world. As time passes and as technology rapidly changes, what once could only be housed in a huge arcade cabinet can now run on a slim gadget in your pocket.
A form of entertainment once rare is now ubiquitous and commonplace. The gaming world is far more diverse than the media would have you think. Things have come a long way and these communities are now seeing some breakthroughs. That is one of the reasons why we want this film to be made now.
We want to be there through the triumphs in the gaming world so that we can capture these moments and preserve them in time. Our Kickstarter campaign ensures that our production scales with interest. Millions of fans comprise the gaming industry, but many of them remain unrepresented within the media they love. Our goal, to lend a voice to the the entire gaming community, is dependent upon your donations.
The more donations we receive, the bigger the documentary can be. More big names, more wild stories, and bigger, better production! Gamers on the whole are a smarter, more involved group of people when it comes to their entertainment.
Think about it; our entertainment IS interactive! Because of that, we wanted to make sure gamers were able to have a hand in the making of this documentary. By giving to our project you get to have a say in just how far we take this and you get to say that you took part in creating something interesting and new.
A memoir of growing up in mob-run Sin City from a casino heir-turned-governor who's seen two sides of every coin. When Bob Miller arrived in Las Vegas as a boy, it was a small, dusty city, a far cry from the glamorous, exciting place it is today.
The Miller family was as close and as warm as "Ozzie and Harriet," as long as you knew that Ozzie was a bookmaker and a business acquaintance of some very dubious criminal types. As Bob grew up, so did Vegas, now a "town" of some two million. Ross Miller became a respectable businessman and partner in a major casino, though he was still capable of settling a score with his fists.
And Bob went on to law school, entering law enforcement and eventually becoming a popular governor of Nevada, holding office longer than anybody in the state's history. And the Miller family's legacy continues. Bob's own son is presently serving as Secretary of State. A warm family memoir, the story of a city heir, with just a little bit of The Godfather and Casino thrown in for spice, Son of a Gambling Man is a unique and thoroughly memorable story.
